The brass 1/8" end stop can also be unscrewed, and moved back to a second set of holes, allowing
the front of the stop to be used to draw a line at the top of the hammer, connecting the side lines.
When doing this, care must be taken to assure that the front edge of the stop is square to the
ruler and front edge. Also keep in mind that when marking boring distances with the tool in this
position, the felt at the top of the hammer may tend to compress a bit more, causing
inaccuracies in measurement!

SUGGESTION: Mark boring distances on some test hammers first, then change the stop for
end marking, and compare how much less pressure is needed against the stop in the new
position. It should be fairly easy to mark hammers accurately with a small amount of practice.
